"Yoda's philosophy was quite simplistic. 'If you get angry, you're gonna lose.' 'Don't try, do.' He has a basic philosophy that is very charming. Not very profound, although young people consider it profound. I wish they would read more."
We need more Irvin Kershners and less Joseph Campbells.

Yoda's philosophy is one of the few aspects of Lucas' writing that continues to impress me. I'm not saying I don't love the fun of the original SW trilogy... anyway, what impresses me is that he managed to sum up the most potent portions of martial philosophy in two sentences.
I've been studying Chinese martial arts for the better part of my life. "Do or do not. There is no try," is still one of my favorite summations of how to live your life. While it is simple, it is also profoundly difficult to implement, even on a small scale. Like the Matrix's "Stop TRYING to hit me and hit me!" Same thing, different day.

Hey thanks for hosting that Chocalypse Now comic - it's hilarious. I'm about to post a little more on my feelings on Yoda... if you're still around, please comment!
