You see a true American understands it's an insult to all of the 'countless men and women' who died in our U.S. military to say that they "died defending that flag"! Hell, every country has a flag, Nazis had a flag.
People need to realize that when our troops go to war they are not just having a pointless game of capture the flag. They are DEFENDING THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES, that is what allows Americans to enjoy a life of Freedom.
I happy that the amendment was defeated, yet also sad that the vote was so close. It is scary that so many Senators were afraid of voters getting mad at them if they voted "No" to protect freedom?
See what makes America special is it's freedom. Freedom means that Rush can say President Bill Clinton is a scumbag. I can say Bush is an idiot. And some whacko can burn the U.S. flag. And they don't get in trouble!

Dont'cha get it? Freedom doesn't mean people are free to do things (if they only don't upset you!), FREEDOM - real FREEDOM is the right to do the unpopular.
And that's exactly how the founding fathers wanted it!!!! Yep, if they wanted freedom to be limited by what society thinks is ok, they never would have wrote the Bill of Rights, after all then a simple majority vote on EVERYTHING would have been fine!!!!
There are apparently only 3 countries that have laws against burning the flag: Cuba, North Korea, and Iran. The way the United States is sacrificing our constitution, perhaps we should join that list.
The Founding Fathers were elitists that feared democracy and designed the Constitution to protect their wealth and insure that the elite permanently retained their wealth and control of the government. Notice how everyone in office is wealthy in their own right? Think a regular guy off the street would ever be elected? Nope.
